This Relaxing Board Game is What You Need-image

Is November getting you down? We understand. Sometimes all the food preparation, guest arrivals, and holiday planning can overwhelm the best of us. If you need a break, as we do, consider playing a relaxing board game that will take you on a journey across Japan. You don’t need a passport to travel outside of your apartment. You just need the incredible board game: Tokaido . What’s Tokaido about? Passport Game Studios shares some great images and information on this fun and exciting board game: “In Tokaido , each player is a traveler crossing the ‘East sea road’, one of the most magnificent roads of Japan. While traveling, you will meet people, taste fine meals, collect beautiful items, discover great panoramas, and visit temples and wild places but at the end of the day, when everyone has arrived at the end of the road you’ll have to be the most initiated traveler – which means that you’ll have to be the one who discovered the most interesting and varied things. Through a unique zen mood, Tokaido is a strategic game while being extraordinarily peaceful and easy to learn.” Why do we love this game? Tokaido teaches players that sometimes the journey is just as important as (or even more rewarding than) the destination. As you embrace the season and partake in many activities and adventures, take some time to slow down. Don’t let these next few months fly by. Enjoy every day. Set new goals and enjoy the journey to get to where this year will take you. Tokaido might be nothing more than a simple board game, but it’s one that could help you focus on living in the moment. Thanks for visiting the Arrive Buckhead Blog. In the comments below, share your favorite game to play in your apartment. We hope you have a great month in Atlanta, Georgia!

Four Books to Read Before Halloween-image

Halloween is the perfect time of year to get scared. Today, the Arrive Buckhead Blog invites you to set aside the books you’ve been reading for one of these Halloween-perfect titles. Replace your usual reading for the month with these terrifying books from some of the most memorable writers of all time. You might want to leave the light on in your Atlanta, GA apartment before you start reading! Salem’s Lot by Stephen King “Thousands of miles away from the small township of 'Salem's Lot, two terrified people, a man and a boy, still share the secrets of those clapboard houses and tree-lined streets. They must return to 'Salem's Lot for a final confrontation with the unspeakable evil that lives on in the town.” Dracula by Bram Stoker “There he lay looking as if youth had been half-renewed, for the white hair and moustache were changed to dark iron-grey, the cheeks were fuller, and the white skin seemed ruby-red underneath; the mouth was redder than ever, for on the lips were gouts of fresh blood, which trickled from the corners of the mouth and ran over the chin and neck. Even the deep, burning eyes seemed set amongst the swollen flesh, for the lids and pouches underneath were bloated. It seemed as if the whole awful creature were simply gorged with blood; he lay like a filthy leech, exhausted with his repletion.” Rosemary’s Baby by Ira Levin “Rosemary Woodhouse and her struggling actor husband Guy move into the Bramford, an old New York City apartment building with an ominous reputation and mostly elderly residents. Neighbors Roman and Minnie Castavet soon come nosing around to welcome the Woodhouses to the building, and despite Rosemary's reservations about their eccentricity and the weird noises that she keeps hearing, her husband takes a special shine to them. Shortly after Guy lands a plum Broadway role, Rosemary becomes pregnant, and the Castavets start taking a special interest in her welfare. As the sickened Rosemary becomes increasingly isolated, she begins to suspect that the Castavets' circle is not what it seems…” Frankenstein by Mary Shelley “Frankenstein tells the story of committed science student Victor Frankenstein. Obsessed with discovering the cause of generation and life and bestowing animation upon lifeless matter, Frankenstein assembles a human being from stolen body parts but; upon bringing it to life, he recoils in horror at the creature's hideousness. Tormented by isolation and loneliness, the once-innocent creature turns to evil and unleashes a campaign of murderous revenge against his creator, Frankenstein.” Have a favorite scary book? Share the title in the comments. Happy Halloween!

Easy Ways to Make Extra Cash-image

If you need a little extra cash, then we think that we have a solution. In today’s post, we have a few simple ideas to help you earn a little extra money on the side. While you might not find every suggestion in this list helpful, there’s bound to be something that can help you make those extra dollars. One of the greatest tools that we have is the internet. Some might even argue that it’s the best way you can make money. How can you benefit the most from this tool? There are a few things that you can do. Do you have some things lying around your Atlanta, GA apartment that you just don’t use anymore? While your instinct might tell you to throw them out or donate them, there’s always the option of selling online. Sites like eBay and Craigslist — or Amazon if the items are gently used or new — offer great solutions where people can sell and buy things. You can check out these guides for selling on Craigslist and eBay for more information. Selling is one of the most common methods of making money online, but there are other options for you. Did you know that you can make money by taking online surveys ? If you find yourself browsing FaceBook aimlessly for hours, then why not earn some extra cash instead? If all else fails, you can always check unclaimed.org to see if any state where you’ve lived is holding money that belongs to you. Just select the state of your choosing and then go from there. For example, if you ever lived in Florida and selected the appropriate option on the map, we read “Currently, the Chief Financial Officer holds unclaimed property accounts valued at more than $1 billion, mostly from dormant accounts in financial institutions, insurance and utility companies, securities and trust holdings. In addition to money and securities, unclaimed property includes tangible property such as watches, jewelry, coins, currency, stamps, historical items and other miscellaneous articles from abandoned safe deposit boxes. Unclaimed money is deposited into the state school fund, where it is used for public education. There is, however, no statute of limitations, and citizens have the right to claim their property any time at no cost.” Have any suggestions for making money online? Share in the comments so that all of our residents at Arrive Buckhead can try them out. Thanks for reading today’s post.

Swimming Pool Tips-image

Welcome back to the Arrive Buckhead Blog! Take time this month to cool down in our swimming pool . Before you do, keep in mind the following tips: Be Prepared Before you head out the pool, make a checklist of the things you’re going to need for a day at the swimming pool. This way, you can check off the crucial items and pack them in advance. Don’t forget to place sunscreen, a towel, and a first aid kit on that list. Being prepared allows you to be able to respond to emergency situations with a clear mind. Wear Appropriate Swimwear Summer days at the pool consist of splashing, fun, and laughter. If you’re not wanting to get your nice clothing wet, be sure to wear the appropriate attire for the pool. Keep all electronics and precious items off to the side or away from the pool, in general, to avoid having them on your person if you get pushed into the water or even to prevent them from harm if a splash comes your way. Be sure to apply sunscreen to avoid getting sunburnt, and be generous to those who neglected to bring some. Don’t Swim Alone Accidents happen. Even if you’re an experienced swimmer, they can happen to you. Taking a friend reduces the risk of injury or drowning. Not only can they help you in case of an emergency, they’re also around for you to have fun with. If you’re at the pool with children, you should also always be present and stay aware of where they are, encouraging them to follow swimming safety rules. Take Breaks Time flies when you’re having fun, making it easy to forget that it’s time to take a break to hydrate or go to the restroom — especially for the kids. To make it easier, visit the restroom before entering the pool, and be sure to take a shower to wash away the dirt and grime from the day. Schedule breaks as soon as you’re finished for going to the bathroom. This may seem like a hassle, but it’s much quicker and less painful than needing to halt your festivities while you wait for the pool to be cleaned from an accident. We hope you have a great month in our Atlanta, GA apartment community. Thanks for reading!
